Why Is Quality Content So Important to Online Marketing?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Quality content has become one of the most important elements of online marketing. Search engines are constantly revising their algorithms to improve search results and satisfy online consumers who want to find information and solutions. Sites with high quality, legitimate, credible content are among the top results. Sophisticated search engine algorithms penalize sites that provide a poor user experience with low quality content, awarding such sites low search rankings.

Internet savvy marketing professionals recognize the need for quality content in online marketing strategies. A Content Marketing Institute study found that “93% of marketing professionals create, or plan to create, content marketing as part of their overall programs in 2012.” Why?

  • Original, relevant content improves search engine rankings and increases conversion rates.
  • Informative, useful content generates targeted website traffic and provides new sales leads.
  • Great content pieces are shared by visitors and can spread quickly – virally – further improving search rankings.
  • Quality content builds trust and establishes a reputation of leadership, resulting in customer loyalty and referrals.

What constitutes “quality” content?

Consumers search the web for information to help them solve a problem or to learn something. They don’t want a sales pitch. That fact means companies must rethink their approach to online promotion. A highly effective emerging strategy for writing content pieces is to fashion them so they don’t overtly look or sound like they are selling. So how can you write such quality content?

  • Deliver content that is well-crafted, customized, and professionally written. It should engage the visitor, keep them on the page longer, and represent you as an authority on the topic.
  • Focus on addressing one topic in a content piece. To gather the material for an article, for example, you might select a topic and make a list of questions and answers that address the topic thoroughly. Visitors who find the information they seek will be encouraged to stay longer on your site and to share your content, which will improve search engine rankings.
  • Review a list of questions Google uses in assessing “higher-quality” sites vs “lower-quality” sites. Fresh, quality content, frequently updated, helps your site rank high for the long-term.

Social content, blogs, videos, articles, press releases, posts, reports, surveys – all aim to provide content that your visitors will enjoy reading, watching or listening to, and sharing with their family, friends, and colleagues. Attracting more targeted visitors and earning their respect with quality content will build a strong network of linking and extended visit times, putting your site among the top search rankings and ultimately increasing sales!

Your online marketing program must include quality content writing and expert web design to be successful. One-stop Solution to All Web Problems: Internet Marketing Phoenix

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Advanced. Sophisticated. And in a hurry. Today’s Internet surfer has a short attention span, and with just a mouse click can quickly and easily move on to other websites. Don’t expect him to patiently flip through page after page of search engine results. About 99% of searchers never get past the first results page. You really must engage in brisk internet marketing and move your website up the ladder of Google ranking to succeed.

The world wide web hosts millions of websites, which means most businesses are facing an overwhelming number of competitors. And today’s smart, cost-conscious consumer usually knows how much he should pay for a product. If you want to grow your online business, keep in mind these two facts:

  • You will not succeed in attracting traffic if your page is hovering down at the lower rungs of the ranking ladder.
  • Even if your page enjoys a fair bit of visibility, you cannot take it for granted that the client is going to purchase your products. This is because a rational surfer likes to visit other similar sites to compare quality and prices.

2012 is the Year of Opportunity for Your Business

Chart Your Business Course for 2012: Check the Economic Trends and
Select Your Next Internet Marketing Move

Good news on the economic horizon means opportunities for small businesses to ride a prosperous wave in 2012. Review these recent reports and then consider whether (and how) you should adjust your Internet marketing presence.

2012 Business Trends at a Glance: Curving Upward

Jobs – Up: Available jobs are increasing, especially in Arizona. Lee McPheters, director of the JPMorgan Chase Economic Outlook Center at Arizona State University, reported Arizona moved from No. 49 among the states for job creation in 2010 all the way up to a top 10 growth state in 2011. Nationwide, the hiring outlook overall for 2012 remains cautiously optimistic, with small business hiring notably expected to increase, according to CareerBuilder 2012 Hiring Forecast. The ABC News 2012 US Economy Forecast cited CEO Brian Hamilton of financial information firm Sageworks, who said, “The jobs numbers are getting better,” and Kiplinger agrees that job creation is picking up.

Retail Sales – Up: Not only were holiday retails strong in 2011, according to USA Today, but overall retail sales rose 4.5% year-over-year in 2011, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs Retail Chain Store Sales Index (cited by CNN Money). For small businesses and especially those using refined Internet selling strategies, the news was very good. As Internet Retailer reported, the online holiday shopping season generated at least $35 billion in sales for web retailers according to comScore Inc. Many smaller niche web merchants also closed out the online Christmas shopping season with a nice boost to their fourth quarter sales by making constant updates to their marketing and merchandising plans. Internet businesses gained ground by concentrating on their best customers, using social media and offering highly targeted incentives.

Economists – Favorable: Arizona’s economic indicators have been improving, according to the University of Arizona – Arizona Economic Outlook 2012-13. The state’s personal income, wages, and employment are growing at increasingly faster rates. Spending is robust while unemployment, bankruptcies and residential foreclosures are happily declining. Nationally, the 2012 Goldman Sachs white paper, The Outlook for the US Economy, reports household debt burdens have continued to improve. Inflation is not expected to significantly increase. As USA Today reported, holiday retail sales strength, steady manufacturing performance steady and housing market resurgence all point to sustained corporate profitability in the coming year.

Business Metrics – Up: Kiplinger estimates the U.S. economy will grow about 2.3% in 2012, a bit faster than the 1.8% pace in 2011, and businesses appear willing to invest in new equipment to expand production after several years of slowed production. A Reuters report observed manufacturing grew at its fastest pace in six months in December, capping a late-year upswing, and a rise in new orders for manufactured goods suggested momentum going into 2012. Another report showed U.S. construction spending neared an 18-month high in November.

Consumers – Polling Optimistic: An Associated Press poll result suggests 62% of Americans are optimistic about the economy in coming year, while 78% are hopeful about the year their family will have in 2012. The public’s expectations for this year’s economy reached their highest point since last spring.

What Is Your Internet Marketing Agenda in 2012?

Being first to spot an oncoming tide is vital both to boaters and to business owners. Given these economic climate trends, now is the time for small business owners to re-evaluate and re-energize their online marketing campaign. Over the next four weeks, we’ll give you insights and tips for creating websites, SEO/SEM strategies, social media campaigns, and other tools to build your Internet marketing presence and success.

1. If you don’t have a website, now is the time to get one. Truly, if you don’t have a viable website, then you are almost certainly missing tremendous business opportunities. If your website has not been redesigned in over three years, it might as well be an old phone book: outdated and not terribly practical. Rather than rush into new marketing channels, it makes sense to build a website that helps establish your brand and reputation while it produces leads and sales. With more online customers out there, you can’t afford to ignore them.

2. If you do have a website but don’t show up near the top of the search results page, now is the time to invest in strategic Internet marketing. More than just techie buzz words, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) help propel you to the all-important top spots in relevant searches for your products and services. What strategies will make the biggest impact on lead generation for your business? Pay per click advertising via search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO) can be the most effective forms of marketing activities for your business in 2012.

Staying on top of the latest trends is not an easy task. While you focus on the day to day operations of your business, hiring the right SEO and internet marketing company can save you time, money, and increase the bottom line. Google is making more changes to their system in 2012. New website analytics are coming as well. Hiring experts to help update your website design and SEO will keep your business in front of potential customers under the current Google system and continuing as Google evolves.

At the same time, consumer Internet use patterns and preferences are favoring social media as well. Webmarketing’s report also showed 55% of companies closed deals from social media leads, and social media is expected to see the biggest increase in investment moving into 2012 as it impacts all facets of marketing strategy.

3. If you don’t have an ongoing relationship with your clients, now is the time to establish social media and email campaigns. Social media helps develop interlocking communities, building relationships with site owners, publishers, and bloggers, which in turn bring new link opportunities for SEO. The landscape is diverse, with many areas to focus on including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. A competent internet marketing firm with the experience to help tie all of these social networks together with your overall SEO and SEM plan will position your business for future success.

Experts agree that tapping into social media empowers small businesses with limited budgets (or low cost items) to market to a receptive audience and even create brand recognition and trust. Michael Brito of Social Business News suggests focusing “on building trust with the community first, then figuring out how to monetize (or get a lead).” A company with the right social media strategy can reach and out to customers like never before.

4. If you have some Internet marketing pieces but not all, it may be time to compliment what you’re doing with video marketing, PR campaigns, blogging and quality content. Which of these Internet features make sense for your business? Hiring the right internet marketing firm that has a solid understanding of what’s out there and how it can best help your business is key. The companies with the best internet marketing strategies, using the most cost effective marketing techniques that are custom to their business model will outpace the field by generating and converting more leads than the competition.

Wow! But Can I Do Any of These Great Things?

To learn how to ski or surf, your best bet is to get an expert skier or surfer to teach you. The expert sets you up with the right equipment, shows you the right moves and why, and stays with you as you learn. You may not need the expert forever, but the coaching prepares you to move forward on your own when you’re ready. And so it is with Internet marketing and website design. Online Marketing Gives Your Business the Competitive Edge

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Phoenix, Arizona, businesses are increasing their customer base and sales by leveraging their online marketing presence. Are you? Or are you still stuck using the marketing techniques of the 1900s that no longer work effectively to grow your business? Consider this: when is the last time you…

  • used a printed phone book?
  • read a print newspaper?
  • purchased something that was advertised via junk mail?
  • paid attention to radio and TV ads?

Was it yesterday? Last month? A year ago? Or longer? You may still encounter those types of advertising from time to time, we all do. However, if you’re like most people, the first thing you will do before making the decision to purchase a product or service is research that product or service online. Reaching the new breed of consumer at this critical moment, at the time they are researching and formulating their purchasing decision on the internet, is the most cost effective form of advertising available to businesses today.

Over 78% of people in the U.S. look for information about products and services on the Internet before they buy. That number is rapidly growing as sales for mobile devices and televisions with internet enabled browsers take off. Even if a friend gave you a referral, you likely still used the Internet to find a phone number, an address, a list of products and services, a price list, or customer reviews.

When your Arizona business markets on the web, anyone anywhere can find information about your company. As a 21st century business owner or manager, connecting with and educating your customers through Internet marketing gives you a competitive edge. To develop your web presence and online marketing campaign, consider these key elements:

  • Web design
  • Pay per click (PPC) advertising
  • Search engine optimization (SEO)

SEO – The Fast Track to Business Profits

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Of all forms of marketing available to your business, effective SEO is the MOST effective and least costly method to keep you moving towards further growth, success, and profits. So many companies have struggled with growth in this economy. Yet, I have personally watched businesses reach record profits, even through a recession. The secret has been the same for all, strong online presence. It’s true that if you supply effective SEO your business website you will grow. The reason is simple. Most businesses, your competitors, do not yet grasp the importance of the internet on the mind and purchasing habits of their target clients. That makes it easy for the few that ‘get it’ to rake in record profits.

Linking your business sites to relevant areas where customers will be searching for your services is a difficult task. There are many factors involved, and an entire industry of specialists has been formed to make sure that your website beats out the competition. If growth is your goal, you should immediately seek out these experts and ask them to start marketing your business to your clients today. But the secret to selling online goes beyond just knowing where the customers are searching. Your website must become a digital handshake between you and your client. You need a compact, easy to use website that has been optimized for your target client and marketed to the right people.

So many website providers today focus on only one element of the process. They either design a website, or they market your website. Rarely do you find a company that does both, and does them both well. However, that’s exactly what you’ll need to be a success. It does little good if people find your website only to turn away because they aren’t getting the information they need from your pages. It also does little good if your website is perfect, but can’t be found by your customers.

It’s time to upgrade the techniques of your outsourced web team. Look for companies that utilize cutting-edge online marketing strategies, combined with effective page design, and are willing to sit down with you to understand your business and goals. These elements are crucial to making your efforts count. Year by year I have observed new trends in the website industry. Your website solutions provider must stay on top of the latest and greatest methods and incorporate new ideas when promoting your business.

Website Marketing and Design

Web Marketing Elements

After all, this is the future of your business on the line! If your website company cannot explain to you the benefits of SEO, blogging, tweets, social media, landing pages, click tracking, page speed, custom search, Google caffeine, article distribution, video linking, or PPC, it’s time to find another company. Further, if they can’t demonstrate to you effective past performance, you also need to move on. In today’s economy, time is too short and the risks are too large to play games with your ROI.

Once you find that company that is willing to sit down with you, work with your business, and knows all elements of the industry – both online marketing and page design, keep them. They will keep your business on the fast track to profits.
